Abstract

Anemia is a common complication of chronic kidney diseasepatients on haemodialysis, most commonly due to erythropoietin(EPO) deficiency. This study was conducted on 20 patients with CKD on regularhaemodialysis treatment three times per week in the nephrologyunit of Benha Teaching Hospital for a duration ranging from 3months to 9 years. They were 10 males (50%) and 10 females(50%) and their ages ranged from 22-67 years. In conclusion, it was found that both types oferythropoietin are effective in treating anemia in CKD patientswith more favourable effect to eprex in improving hemoglobinlevel while epoform resulted in individual variation.
