This research was designed to evaluate the masking effect of resin cementon stained teeth. Sixty disc shaped samples of IPS e.max ceram and sixtydisc shaped natural teeth were used in this study. The discs were dividedinto three groups as follows according to degree of staining; staining wasperformed using tea solution. Group (1): Twenty discs unstained. Group(2): Twenty discs lightly stained, Group (3): Twenty discs darkly stained. The samples from each group were further subdivided into two equalsubgroups according to the used resin cement: Subgroup (1) :Luted withRelyX veneer cement (white opaque shade). Subgroup (2): Luted withMojo veneer cement (Movie Star shade). For construction of IPS e.max Ceram discs, a specially designedTeflon mold was used, so that the diameter was 8mm and 1 mmthickness. The teeth discs color was evaluated before and after staining, and after cementation of IPS e.max Ceram discs, using: 1.Laboratoryspectrophotometer to asses both the color parameters and translucency. 2.Clinical spectrophotometer to assess the color parameters. The obtaineddata was collected, tabulated, statistically analyzed and ΔE (colordifferences) was calculated in order to detect any significant valuesamong the different test groups and sub groups. The following resultswere obtained: Both RelyX veneer cement and Mojo veneer cement werecapable of masking the color of lightly stained teeth.1. Mojo was better than RelyX in masking the discoloration.2. Both cements failed in masking the color of severely stained teeth.
