There are many alternatives to glass that have many characteristics, such as freedom of form, structural stability and positive implementation impact, allowing architects to design and implement what they had never been able to implement before, contributing significantly to contemporary architecture shape changing. Alternative materials have great advantages to glass in terms of architectural and interior environment design. Therefore, it is expected that the scope of using such materials will widen mainly in large spaces engineering. In addition, since the internal environment has become more comfortable with the permeability of visible light the impact of high thermal insulation and the performance of fire protection measures suitable for large spaces, alternative materials have become widely used in hospitals, glass installations, atriums and aquatic gardens. The research problem lies in the following question: What is the possibility of having alternatives to glass which still possess an artistic and aesthetic values as well as high standard fundamentals of civilization in contemporary architecture? One the most important findings is that glass has many alternatives with high important artistic and aesthetic role in contemporary architecture, as well as high standard fundamentals of civilization in society.
