Abstract

The aim of the research was to know the extent of the relationship between cognitive emotional regulation strategies and suicidal ideation among female students at Ain Shams University for Girls. The research sample included (100) female students in the literary and scientific specializations, and their ages ranged between (18-20) years with an arithmetic mean of (19.13) years and a standard deviation of (0.51). The researcher used the following tools: Emotional regulation strategies scale, prepared by: (Garnefski & Kraalj, 2007) translated by the researcher, and the suicidal ideation scale, prepared by the researcher. The research results indicated the existence of a statistically significant inverse relationship between the total score of cognitive emotional regulation strategies and suicidal ideation among female university students, and that there were no differences in the total score of emotional regulation strategies and suicidal ideation among female university students attributed to the variable of specialization.
