Abstract

This research undertakes a comprehensive exploration of Parallelism, a foundational element in Chinese rhetoric that pervades poetry, proverbs, and advertisements. Its essence lies in the intricate interplay of two phrases, sharing a meaningful relationship and possessing a similar structural pattern. The research unfolds in two sections: the first delineates Parallelism's characteristics, types, and applications, while the second delves into translation methods from Chinese to Arabic. Given its widespread usage, translators grapple with Parallelism regularly, making this investigation crucial. The research introduces two translation methods: finding equivalent Arabic structures and direct translation while preserving the parallel style's features. Abundant examples, drawn from the author's translations and Professor Wang Yuyong's work on Chinese proverbs, illustrate these methods. In examining the complexities of Parallelism and addressing translation challenges, this research not only unravels the nuances of Chinese rhetoric but also contributes valuable insights to cross-cultural understanding and effective translation strategies. As Parallelism remains integral to diverse communication genres, this study holds significance for scholars, linguists, and translators seeking to navigate the complexities of linguistic and cultural bridges between Chinese and Arabic expressions.
