Abstract: Football has a great popularity; it is followed by billions around the world. Translation of football-based texts falls under the realm of specialized translation. However, consecutive interpreting of football press conferences is more challenging, and interpretation of provocative questions and answers in Football press conferences. The study aims at investigating Arabic and English provocative questions and answers posed by coaches and/or journalists, and the appropriate interpretation strategies for interpreting such questions and answers within football press conferences. Data of the study is collected from different videos of football press conferences. The study also highlights the role of the football interpreters and football Jargon. Moreover, the researcher investigates the applicability of Reduction Strategies proposed by (Faerach & Kasper, 1983) to determine the appropriateness of such strategies for interpreting provocative discourse. Finally, the study hopes to reach some results which help interpreters select appropriate strategies for interpreting such provocative questions and answers.
