A Comparative Study of Leadership Styles Used in Social Work Among Local and Professional Leaders in Siwa Oasis

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the leadership patterns used in social work in Siwa Oasis, studying the relationship between their ranking according to their common use, and identifying the differences between their opinions regarding the prevalence of their use among them. The research was conducted in Siwa Oasis and included its coverage in two categories: professional and local leaders, The simple random sample of professional leaders (74) respondent and (109) local leaders taking sample in one city of Siwa. The data collected by personal interview with respondents during the period from June to July 2022. Data analyzed by statistical methods: Frequencies, percentages, Spearman's coefficient and critical ratio. The results showed that professional leaders in descending order as follow: authoritarian pattern effective pattern, social pattern, conciliatory pattern, negative pattern (13.7%, 17.4%, 19.5%, 23.5%, 26.5%) respectively. For local leaders, the active pattern, the conciliatory pattern, the social pattern, the authoritarian pattern, the negative pattern, (6.9%, 21%, 21.5%, 22.5%, 28.1%) respectively. The results confirmed that was no difference of opinion between professional and local leaders regarding their respective ranking of leadership styles; the results confirmed the existence of differences between the opinions of professional and local leaders for the authoritarian leadership style, and for the conciliatory leadership style according to the value of the critical ratio, which amounted to (3.64) and 2.72 respectively, and the absence of differences between them for the social leadership style and the negative leadership style according to the critical ratio, which amounted to 0.98 and 1.91.
