Abstract

Recently, it has been noted that there is an evolving pattern in the tourism sector that is booming considerably and that many tourists in various countries of the world have received the so-called dark tourism or black tourism pattern. This type of tourism refers to visiting places that have experienced tragedies, natural disasters, war sites and sites historically associated with death and human tragedies.
The aim: study the reality of dark tourism in Ismailia and to work on the need to pay attention to the revitalization of dark tourism as a modern tourist pattern in Egypt by applying to Ismailia and work to develop a proposed and hoped-for vision for revitalizing it and promoting this modern tourism pattern, which is booming significantly, In this regard, the Mixed Methods Methodology was used, where the researcher distributed (23) questionnaires to each of the administrators of the Tabat Alshajara area and the Commonwealth Graves as sites for dark tourism, managers of tourism companies in Ismailia , and tourism experts from the Tourism Department in Ismailia Governorate,
The research has found a series of findings, the most important of which is that there are some shortcomings in the absence of refresher campaigns for the dark tourism pattern as a modern and highly prosperous tourist pattern in Egypt in general and in the Ismailia Governorate in particular. With regard to the main recommendations of the research, the researcher found the need for work to develop tourism programmes to revitalize sites for dark tourism in Ismailia.
