Abstract

Various tourism and hospitality institutions are increasingly seeking to adopt green human resource management practices to keep pace with changes in the tourism work environment, play their role in preserving the environment and its resources, and reduce the negative effects resulting from their activities and operations. This study aimed to measure the impact of adopting green human resource management and its practices of green job analysis and description, green recruitment, green selection, green guidance, green training and development, green performance evaluation, and green rewards on sustainable performance in tourism and hospitality institutions (tourism companies and hotels). The study also aimed to determine if there were statistical differences in the responses of the study sample to the variables of green human resource management and its practices and sustainable performance due to demographic and functional variables. The study relied on the questionnaire as a main tool for data collection. 1378 questionnaires were distributed, 614 in tourism companies category (A), and 764 in five-star hotels in Cairo governorate, while the analysis of 964 valid forms was relied on. The results of the study showed a significant and positive impact of green human resources management on enhancing the sustainable performance of tourism and hospitality institutions. The results of the study also showed that all green human resource management practices have a moral and positive impact on sustainable performance.
