Pesticide residues of (malathion, plrimiphos methyl. chlorpy 'los methyl,
carbosulfan and methomyl ) were extracted from watermelon (seeds, pe I and plup}.
These residues were determined and their effects on \he enzyme activilles of albino
rats were measured. Results revealed that Plasma ChE activity was significantly
decreased in all treated rats groups with all pesticides tested and their re idues in a/l
experimental period. Carbosulfan and chlorpyrifos methyl exhibited the m st effective
compounds in the ChE activity. The inhibition percent were 23.5 % a d 17.33 %
respectively .Plasma AST activity was decreased after 48 hours of treatment with the
organophosphorus pesticides tested while with the carbamate cornpcuncs it was
increased. On the other hand, these activilles were Increased after 21 days of
treatment wIth malathion and a/l carbamate compounds lested compared l.vith that of
control.Plasma AL T activity was decreased after 48 hours from trea ment with
malathion, and chlorpyrifos methyl. Contrar»y, AL T activity was increased after 21
days or treatment wilh malathion. pirimiphos methyl, carbosulfan and methomyl
compared with that of control. Plasma alkaline phosphatase activity was s gnificantly
increased with all tested pesticides and their residues in all experime tal period
compared with that of control. The maximum percent of increasing was found with the
carbamate pesticide, carbosulfan, Total protein concentration in plasma was
decreased with all tested pesticides and their residues after 48 hours from t eatments
and the maximum percent of decreasing was found with malathion (70.49 Co) . Also,
lotal protein concentration was increased with all tested pesticides and thei residues
after 21 days from treatments compared with that of control. Albumin conce Iration in
plasma was increased in all experimental period with malathion, pirlmiphos methyl.
carbosulfan and methomyl compared with thaI of control. In contrary albumin
concentration was decreased with chlorpyrifos methyl pesticide in all experimental
period. Plasma cholesterol concentration was also decreased with malathion.
pirimiphos methyl. cartosulfan and methomyt. The maximum percent of decreasing
was occured with carbosulfan (56.57 %). Only chlorpyrifos methyl Insectlcid showed
an increasing the cholesterol concentration compared with that of control.
