The early studies of spontaneous settlements concluded that it has no order due to its fuzzy Geometrical structure, but the complexity theory changed the paradigm of research and scholars redefined the spontaneous settlements as a complex geometrical system. This paper aims to detect appropriate tools to analyze geometrical order of informal settlements. reviewing the precedent analytical trials   that studied the built environment in general, and
focusing on informal settelments representing cases from Egypt, Saudi arabia,Turkey,india ,Brasil,  philippine and India. This paper is divided into three main parts, the first part compares between several studies that analyzed complexity of the built environment in general and detects four main approaches of analyzing complexity: Measuring degree of complexity, finding the nonphysical aspects of complexity, finding the generators of complexity and defining the structure of complexity. The second part discusses the four approaches and detects the tools for each of them. The last part compares the tools which were detected and formulate an appropriate methodology to understand complexity of informal settlements.
البناء الهندسى للمناطق اللارسمية محاط بدرجة عالية من الغموض ، وکانت النظرة  السائدة أنها ذات بنية هندسية عشوائية لا تحمل أى نظام داخلى . إلا أن نظريات وعلوم التعقيد دفعت الباحثين لإعادة النظر إليها  کبنية معقدة  هندسيا . يهدف البحث إلى رصد أدوات تصلح لتحليل الترکيب الهندسى للمناطق اللارسمية . من خلال استعراض تجارب تحليل التعقيد الهندسى فى عدد من المناطق اللارسمية فى کل من  ترکيا والهند ومصر والسعودية والبرازيل  والفلبين بالإضافة لبعض الأمثلة من العمارة التاريخية . وبعض الأمثلة التى تدرس التعقيد الهندسى فى البيئة المشيدة بصفة عامة وينقسم البحث إلى ثلاثة أجزاء ، الجزء الأول يقارن بين مجموعة من الأبحاث التى درست التعقيد الهندسى فى البيئة المشيدة من شتى الزوايا ، ويتوصل البحث لأربعة مستويات مختلفة لدراسة التعقيد الهندسى فى البيئة المشيدة وهى: قياس درجة التعقيد - الأبعاد اللامادية ( الاجتماعية والسيکلوجية ) المصاحبة للتعقيد- منظومة التشريع کآلية مولدة للتعقيد - لغة النسق ، والجزء الثانى يناقش مستويات التحليل الأربعة ويرصد أدوات التحليل الخاصة بکل منها ، والجزء الأخير يقارن بين الأدوات التحليلية التى تم استخدامها فى المستويات الأربعة ويستخلص المنهجية المناسبة لتحليل الترکيب الهندسى للمناطق اللارسمية .
