-Abstract
The research aims at:
1-Knowing the effect of the oxygen free radicals on DNA.
2-Being introduced to the effect of the oxygen free radicals on the oxidation of fats and proteins in both smoking and non- smoking athletes.
3- Knowing the effect of the oxygen free radicals on the SOD enzyme one of the antioxidants in both smoking and non- smoking athletes.
Research Hypothesis:
1-The damage that happen in the DNA in non-smoking athletes is less than it in smoking athletes.
2-The percentage of oxidation fats and proteins in athletes is less in non- smoking than smokers.
3- The percentage of the SOD enzyme as one of the natural antioxidants in smokers is higher than in
Conclusions:
According to the results of the research and through the sample and the methods used in the researches, and through the statistic treatment and by analyzing the results, it was possible to reach the following conclusions:
1-Smoking effects and increases the amount of the oxygen free radicals in the body tissues.
2-Smoking changes happens in the formation of the DNA.
3-The percentage of oxidation of fats and proteins through which the level of oxygen free radicals can be indicated is higher in smoking athletes than non- smoking athletes.
4-The rate natural antioxidants that one of which is the SOD enzyme can be effected by smoking that is why, it was found to be higher in smoking athletes than in non-smoking athletes.
