This study was a community-based cross-sectional analytic study using multistage random sample, all the household members of all ages of the 512 families constituting the sample were included. The study involved 3 phases; phase IA for demographic data collection and epilepsy screening for known and/ or suspected cases with epilepsy by an Arabic questionnaire based upon the WHO questionnaire for epidemiologic studies of Neurologic disorders, phase IB for establishing diagnosis of epilepsy, and phase II for classifying, describing, and investigating confirmed epilepsy patients by EEG and brain MRI.The lifetime point prevalence of epilepsy among inhabitants of Al-Manial island was estimated to be 6.9/1000 inhabitants (12 patients out of 1751 participants) with equal sex ratio. The prevalence of active epilepsy was 5.1/1000 inhabitants (9 patients). Focal seizures were the commonest type. Treatment gap was 66.7%
