Inflammation is one of the most commoncause of mortality in chronic renal failure, speciallyin patients on chronic hemodialysis. In search for a good specific marker ofinflammation CRP is the most widely used marker, and we are still in continious process for searchinga sensitive & specific marker of inflammation. In this study we used procalcitonin as an acutephase reactant which rises in cases with systemicinflammation as a marker of micro-inflammation inchronic hemodialysis patients against the most widely used marker CRP.
