Abstract

This study aimed at registering the primary extranodal lymphoma (ENL) cases received by the pathology department in Kasr El-Aini Hospital during the period from January, 2005 to December, 2009. Eighty two cases were collected, 96.3% of them (79 cases) had extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma (EN-NHL), and 3.7% (3 cases) had extranodal Hodgkin lymphoma (EN-HL). Age ranged from 3 to 78 years. There was slight male predominance representing 52.4% of the total number of primary ENL cases. The involved primary extranodal sites were gastrointestinal tract (GIT), waldeyer’s ring (WR), spleen, nasal cavity, liver, salivary glands, bone, larynx, skin, orbit, lung, mediastinum (thymus), central nervous system, paranasal sinuses, testis, breast, kidney, and female genital tract. The GIT was the most frequently involved site, followed by the WR representing 29.3% and 20.7% of the total number of primary ENL cases, respectively. Statistical results were obtained.
