Abstract

Our study included 89 patients with epilepsy. Serum copper was estimated in epileptic patients (idiopathic and cryptogenic). Serum copper proved to be low in epileptic patients whether idiopathic or cryptogenic before and after treatment and showed a statistically negative correlation with frequency of fits. Copper supplementation is recommended as a possible mode of reduction of frequency of fits in intractable seizures.
