Abstract

Evaluation of the new trends and materials used in Sclerotherapy of varicose veins by comparing the efficacy of Aethoxysclerol 0.5%, Hypertonic Saline 20% with Lidocaine2% and Ethanolamine Oleate. It was found that Aethoxysclerol produces excellent sclerosis of small vessels with minimal toxicity, pain, necrosis or pigmentation. However, the onset of action is twice as long as other agents. Thus, the patient must be aware that the benefit of pain free injection may result in a longer duration. Post injection compression is essential to allow irritated vessel lumen to seal and to avoid post sclerosis recanalization.
