Abstract

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the most promising technologies for breast cancer screening in high risk patients, including those with history of breast carcinoma or other high risk histologies, those with strong family history of breast cancer and inconclusive mammographic findings. For women at increased risk of breast cancer screening technologies other than mammography may contribute to the earlier detection of breast cancer, particularly in women under the age of 40 years.
