Abstract

Neuropathic pain is a major issue in public health. It was defined in 2006 as “pain initiated or caused by a primary lesion or dysfunction or transitory perturbation in the peripheral or central nervous system. Neuropathic pain is the label applied to pain syndromes resulting from direct injury or dysfunction of the peripheral or central nervous system. These changes may be caused by injury to either neural or non-neural tissues. Diagnosis can be made using various methods, and treatment modalities include pharmacological and interventional methods.
