Abstract

In this conducted study, evaluation of the effect of nitroderm patchs (a nitric oxide donor) on the management of cases of intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) complicating preeclampsia was done . Ultrasonographic estimation of the estimated fetal weight, the amniotic fluid index, as well as Doppler study of the uterine, umbilicat and fetal middle cerebral artery was performed. It was found that Nitroderm patchs could successfully reduce the impedance to flow in the uteroplacental circulation with consequent increase in the amniotic fluid volume and esimated fetal weight in the IUGR fetuses.
