Abstract

Trauma either penetrating or blunt trauma considers the main cause of vascular injury and soft tissue loss. Blunt trauma constitutes the major cause of such injuries in this study and occurs in the form of motor car accidents and fall from a height. Diagnosis and repair of the vascular injuries of the extremities as soon as possible are very important in salvage of the affected limb. Coverage of the repaired exposed blood vessels mainly by muscle flaps is very important to prevent infection and secondary haemorrhage. Follow up is very important to prevent complications that may lead to amputation of the mangled extremity.
