Abstract

Viral infections are prominent following bone marrow transplantation (BMT)The aim of this work is to detect early CMV and EBV in BMT patients using antigen detection (clonab) method, ELISA and PCR for CMV, monospat test, ELISA and PCR for EBV.For diagnosis of CMV, PCR was the most sensitive method compared by other methods (p 0.005), while for EBV no statistically significant difference was found between the three methods (p > 0.005)Early diagnosis of viral infections in BMT patients are important to guide the use of antiviral drugs and to differentiate CMV infection from graft rejection.
