Abstract
36 patients having different indications for elective colorectal resections were allocated into two groups; Those under going assisted laparoscopic resections & a control group operated upon by the conventional open techniques. The results showed that laparoscopic resections were associated with a statistically significant lower operative blood loss, lower need for postoperative parenteral analgesia, shorter hospital stay as well as earlier return to preoperative activity status.
