Hepatocellular carcinoma is one of the most common cancers worldwide its incidence is increasing with the increasing incidence of hepatitis B and C infection. Its mortality rate is almost equal to its incidence because once symptoms appear the tumor is unresectable. That is why screening is essential to decrease these mortalities. So far AFP is the only test commonly used for detection of HCC however its sensitivity is poor not exceeding 60%.So we recommend the combined measurement of GPC-3 and AFP to increase sensitivity of testing.
