Abstract

According to our data, we can conclude that the prevalence of anemia between pregnant females attending El-Kasr Al-Aini obstetric emergency ward at time of delivery was 38.5% is associated with multiple health problems affecting both the mother and fetus. We found positive association between maternal anemia before and after labor and PROM, preterm birth and low birth weight but there was negative association with the rate of caesarian deliveries due failure of progress, amount of blood lost during delivery and the rate of postpartum hemorrhage monitored during the first 8 hours in vaginal deliveries and caesarian deliveries.
