Abstract

MRI is the most commonly used imaging modality in the evaluation of patients with TLE, MRI protocols must be tailored for evaluation of temporal lobe structures. Conventional MRI findings of MTS are divided into primary findings which are Hippocampal atrophy and Increased signal intensity of the hippocampus on Flair/T2WI and other secondary findings (e.g Temporal horn dilatation, Loss of hippocampal internal architecture…. etc.) used to support the diagnosis.Visual assessment of asymmetry in hippocampal volumes has been shown to be 86% sensitive and 83% specific in detecting hippocampal sclerosis so accurate measurement of hippocampal volume will increase accuracy of asymmetrical assessment
