Abstract

The diagnosis of allergy depends on the use of serological assays tomeasure specific IgE. We detected specific IgE using low- level analytedetection by chemiluminescence. This is a sensitive quantification method asit fulfils many of the requirements for good evaluation being time saving, precise, with very low detection limits and large linear concentrations that canbe measured with excellent regression coefficient. The study included 40 atopic children aged between 3 years and 15years with known history of allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, or atopic dermatitis and 18 of them were evaluated by allergy skintesting as well. Conclusion: Chemiluminescence test is the preferred method to detectspecific IgE antibodies in vitro as it has shown to have good reproducibilityand to give reliable results. It also showed superiority over skin testing
