One hundred and twenty schistosomiasis mansoni infectedpatients and thirty patients as a control were evaluated by clinicalexamination; ultrasonography to detect organomegaly, ppf, ascites, splenic vein and portal vein diameter; urine, stoolanalysis and rectal snip for patients who were negative by direct stoolexamination. Schisto- antigen were detected using a double sandwichELISA , its sensitivity was 90.8% with no evidence of cross reaction. No significant relationship between antigen and differentclinical forms. Schisto- antigen level showed a positive correlationwith the degree of periportal fibrosis and intensity of infection.
