Abstract

We have reported 52 patients who had PCNL. Patients &methods:The first 26 patients had ureteric catheter removed within 1st postoperative. The remaining 26 patients had their nephrostomy tubes removed in the 1st postoperative day. Patients with significant residual stone burden, multiple accesses, perforation of the collecting system, obstructive renal anatomy, need for a second-look procedure,or significant bleeding were excluded. We reported some minor complications. Results: Hospitalization, analgesia requirements, and time to return to normal activity were approximately the same Average hospital stay was 4.9 days for nephrostomy drained patients, and 4.4 days for ureteric catheter drained patients.
