Abstract

•Background. Treatment of breast cancer has changed from radical mastectomy to more conservative approaches and those previously treated with conventional mastectomies are now candidates to reconstructive surgery including different types of flaps and prosthesis. •Aim of the work. Prospective-retrospective study of post-mastectomy breast reconstruction to establish a protocol for aesthetic reconstruction of the breast with optimum patient safety and satisfaction.•Patients and Methods.25 patients fulfilling the eligibility criteria of breast reconstruction.(10 immediate and 15 delayed)•Conclusion Each technique offers its advantage and disadvantage. In addition, specific indications and contraindications exist for each technique giving both surgeon and patient different options of reconstruction. But immediate- delayed breast reconstruction is the best modality if applicable.
