Abstract
•This study was conducted on a group of 30 patients of different age groups and both sexes.•Inclusion criteria was peripherally situated pulmonary lesion beyond bronchoscopic vision.•All patients were subjected to:-Good history taking and clinical examination.-Plain X-ray chest PA and lateral views. -Hepatorenal and bleeding profiles.-Transbronchial lung biopsy via fiberoptic bronchoscope under fluoroscopic guidance.-13 patients underwent CT guided biopsy.•The fluoroscopic guided transbronchial lung biopsy was diagnostic in 17 cases out of 30 cases. Out of these 17 cases, 12 patients had malignant lesions and 5 had benign lesions.-The CT guided biopsy was diagnostic in 8 cases out of 13 cases.-All these 8 cases had malignant lesions.•Three (3) cases were diagnosed by limited thoracotomy.-Two (2) of them had benign lesions and 1 case had malignant lesion.•One case was diagnosed as pulmonary tuberculosis on the basis of high positive tuberculin test.•One case was diagnosed as malignant lesion as the patient developed pleural effusion positive for malignant cells.
