Tumors of the central nervous system neoplasms and include both benign malignant tumors. The present study was done on a total of 79 cases of primary CNS tumour. This study focused on ependymoma. Most cases were in the range of four to less than 14 years old. Male gender constituted 57.8% of total cases. Of the 29 classic ependymomas studied 24 (82.76%) were intracranially located, while five cases of non classic ependymoma were located within the spinal cord. CD99 monoclonal antibody was used in all studied cases, while epithelial membrane antigen (EMA) was used in ependymoma cases only. It was found that this marker couldn't differentiate between different ependymoma variants, but it could differentiate between ependymomas and non ependymal tumours. Regarding EMA immunoreactivity, it was found to be of little value in ependymoma diagnosis and in the differentiation between different types and grades.
