Abstract

Aim of work was to estimate prevalence of antibodies (abs) to Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide (CCP) in RA and SLE patients presenting witharthritis and to study the relation of these antibodies to various RAdisease manifestations. Study included 40 RA and 25 SLE patientsalong with 20 control subjects. Full clinical assessment, laboratoryinvestigations and imaging studies as appropriate were done. AntiCCP abs were found in 55% (22/40) of RA and 20% (5/25) of SLEpatients and in none of the control subjects. The presence of antiCCP abs in RA patients appeared to be related in part to highergrades of disease activity and severity.
