Abstract

The aim of this study is to compare two types of attachments, theball and socket attachment versus the locator attachment used with complete mandibular overdenture retained with a single midline implant regarding; Patient satisfaction, gingival index, bleeding on probing, implant stabilitythrough follow up periods of zero, one and three months. The study includes sixteen completely edentulous male patients with a mean age of 55 years (range 50–60 years). The patients were divided into two equal groups: Group Ipatients received mandibular overdenture retained with single midline implant using locator attachmentwhile Group II patients received mandibular overdenture retained with single midline implant using ball attachment. Using both attachments, ball and socket attachment and locator attachment can be used to improve the function of a mandibular complete overdenture and also satisfy the patient.
