Abstract

Achilles tendon is the largest and strongest tendon in the body, transmit forces generated by the gastrocnemius and soleus muscle to the calcaneus.Injuries to this tendon are increasing due to increased participates in athletic activities, the aetiolgy of injuries are multifactorial mainly due to intrinsic factors and extrinsic factors.The problems classyfied into insertional and non insertional.Diagnosis by history, examination and investigation (ultrasound and MRI).Treatment by either conservative or operative.
