Abstract

Coronary heart disease is increasingly becoming a health problem of significant morbidity and mortality in Egypt and other countries due to changing lifestyle. This work covered 562 chronic cigarette smokers; 500men and 62 women comprising different socioeconomic levels in the age rang 30-60 years. Investigations were done to exclude other major risk factors of CHD. Resting ECG and Exercise Test were done. Results showed 78/562; 13.9% had a subjective evidence for myocardial ischemia with a need for further investigations and treatment.
