Abstract

This study was carried on 40 patients presenting with tremor; 20 patients with ET, 14 patients with PT, 4 patients with cerebellar tremor and 2 patients with psychogenic tremor.Various entities of tremor are defined by clinical criteria as well as neurophysiologic parameters. Only for the minority of tremor is a neurophysiologic test available to definitely prove the diagnosis.Tremor pattern is constant for the individual and remains the most important tremor parameter, thus the differentiation should be made between tremor etiologies by synchronous or alternating pattern.Tremor can be classified according to frequency into low (<4 Hz), medium (4-7 Hz), and high frequency tremor (>7 Hz).Propriceptive input using submaximal electric stimulation causes tremor acceleration in PT patients.
