Idiopathic intracranial hypertension is a neurological disease that may affect visual function. Visual field changes can be detected by using automated perimetry. Optical coherence tomography can be also used to measure retinal nerve fiber layer thickness to assess changes in optic nerve head. Patients and methods: In this study, perimetry and optical coherence tomography were applied to 30 eyes of 15 patients with idiopathic intracranial tension with early or well established papilledema at presentation and after one month. Results: showed correlation between visual field changes measured by perimetry and retinal nerve fiber layer thickness measured by optical coherence tomography ; but the results were statistically insignificant. Conclusion: there is correlation between perimeteric findings and nerve fiber layer thickness in idiopathic intracranial hypertension ; but need further investigations.
