Wrist and hand tendons may be affected by a variety of pathologic conditions, including trauma and overuse, inflammatory and metabolic disorders, orinfections. Ultrasound is a very sensitive means of detecting tendinouspathology because of its spatial resolution and its comparative and dynamiccapabilities. Its wide availability makes it the preferred first-line imagingmodality in the case of wrist pain, but it cannot determine specific causes.Knowledge of the normal anatomy, the clinical symptoms, and the setting mayhelp in the differential diagnosis.
