Abstract

Management of peri-orbital fractures gains its importance from the fact that trauma, especially road traffic accidents, has been the main cause of morbidity and mortality nowadays. In this study we evaluate the results of management of periorbital fractures in patients treated and or admitted to plastic and maxillofacial surgery unit from Kasr Al-Ainy emergency department over a period of 18 months (from the 1st of November 2009 to 31th of May 2011). We also clarify in this study the indications, contraindications, advantages and disadvantages of different strategies of management of periorbital fractures, either conservative or surgical, timing of surgery and surgical approaches.
