Abstract

Introduction:Complementary, alternative, unconventional and integrative medicine represent different types of natural medicine that have been known and practiced ever since the recording of history. There is no clear and consistent definition for either alternative or complementary medicine. In Western culture it is often defined as any healing practice "that does not fall within the realm of conventional medicine”, or "that which has not been shown consistently to be effective."Aim of Work:The aim of this work is to provide an honest and yet neutral point of view considering this ancient and popular line of unconventional therapy. This essay is an attempt to explore diverse aspects of complementary and alternative medicine. It also sheds light on some of the main dermatological lesions that have shown some improvement or even complete cure when treated using this unconventional line of therapy whether on its own or combined with conventional therapy. Conclusion:In conclusion, more rigorous, systematic analysis and testing of therapeutic agents used in Complementary & Alternative Medicine may eventually lead to the development of a standard set of therapeutic agents that may be administered with reliable efficacy and good quality control.
