Abstract

Vginitis is an inflammation of the mucus membrane of the vagina. The main causes of vaginitis are bacterial infections (bacterial vaginosis), yeast infection (Candidiasis), and Trichomoniasis. Gardnerella vaginalis is a member of the normal vaginal flora up to 69% of healthy women in reproductive age. It is almost always associated with bacterial vaginosis. The aim of this work is to find the association frequency of Gardnerella vaginalis with microbial agents specific for vaginitis mainly with Candida species or / Trichomonas vaginalis in clinically diagnosed cases of vaginitis. The result of this study was detection of Gardnerella vaginalis alone in 23.9% and with agents of vaginitis in 39.4% of which 18.3% with Candida species, 9.85% with Trichomonas vaginalis and 11.26% with both agents.
