Abstract

Acute appendicitis represents one of the most common inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. No single sign, symptom or diagnostic test accurately makes the diagnosis of appendiceal inflammation in all cases. Delay in diagnosing appendicitis increases the risk of perforation and complications. Measuring body inflammatory agents such as C-reactive protein, and white cell count may reduce unnecessary operations. An elevated C-reactive protein level in combination with an elevated WBC count and neurtophil are help in reducing the rate of negative laparotomies in patient suspected of having acute appendicitis
