Abstract

Acute pancreatitis is the most common serious complication ofendoscopic retrograde cholangopancreatography (ERCP) (It occurs in upto 30% of patients who undergo ERCPMeasurement of amylase and lipase are the principle laboratory methodsfor diagnosing acute pancreatitis (Diagnosis of post ERCP pancreatitis(PEP) is based on clinical presentation, pancreatic enzymes (serumamylase and lipase) in addition, inflammatory markers (c-reactiveprotein"CRP") and contrast enhanced CT scan can be used to assess theseverity of acute pancreatitis
