Abstract

The classic technique of pulsed dye laser (585 nm wavelength and 450 mu sec pulse duration) was extensively used to treat adult port-wine stains (PWSs), but it usually took several sessions and the lesion could not be totally eradicated. Recently, a new technique “the multilayer technique” was introduced aiming to improve the results and to reduce the number of sessions. This will be achieved through targeting different depths of the PWS during the same session by using longer pulse duration (1500 sec) and longer wavelength (600 nm) immediately before the classic technique. Our results showed that the multilayer technique is superior to the classic technique as regards the degree of PWS clearance and the incidence side effects
