Abstract

This study was undertaken to evaluate the role of endometrial ablation in the management of abnormal uterine bleeding. Normal menstrual pattern and the menstrual physiology are discussed . Chapter one concentrates on abnormal uterine bleeding.Methods of assessment of increased menstrual flow are described both objective and subjective .Clinical types of abnormal uterine are discussed. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is detailed due its importance in this study.Methods of diagnosis whether, laboratory, radiological, endometrial sampling for exclusion of intrauterine lesion are shown with all possible results and interpretations.Different types of treatment including medical and surgical methods are discussed. Hysterectomy as a traditional surgical procedure is discussed with its indications and complications.In chapter two we discussed endometrial ablation as the new method of treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding. Its origin and background, technique and complications both intra-operative and post-operative.
