Objectives: To compare the personality profile, anxiety, and sexual satisfaction in normal volunteers and patients with Erectile Dysfunction (ED) treated with Sildenafil Citrate and those treated with Intracorporeal Injection (ICI) home therapy.Methods: This is a cross sectional case control study. A total of 100 male subjects were recruited to participate in the study. The sample was divided into 3 groups: ICI Group included 30 patients complaining of ED & treated with ICI for a minimum of two months of regular sexual practice, Sildenafil Group included 30 patients complaining of ED & treated with Sildenafil Citrate for a minimum of two months of regular sexual practice, and a Control Group which included 40 normal subjects with no history of psychosexual illnesses. The 100 male subjects were interviewed and the following questionnaires were administered: Beck Anxiety Inventory, Eysenck Personality Questionnaire, Sexual Satisfaction Scale, and International Index of Erectile Function Questionnaire (IIEF-5).Results: When the ICI group was compared with the Sildenafil group, there was a statistically significant difference in the Beck Anxiety Inventory (p < 0.05)(higher in the Sildenafil group); however, there was no significant difference in sexual satisfaction scale (p = 0.148) or IIEF-5 (p = 1). Moreover, the Eysenck personality profile questionnaire did not show any significant difference in Psychoticism (P) (p = 0.265), Neuroticism (N) (p = 0.165), Extraversion € (p = 0.749), Lie (L) (p = 0.595), and Criminality © (p = 0.413).Conclusion: Anxiety is lower in patients treated with ICI compared to patients treated with Sildenafil Citrate. While no significant difference was found upon comparing the personality profile five dimensions: Psychoticism (P), Neuroticism (N), Extraversion €, Lie scale (L) and Criminality ©. Sexual satisfaction was higher in the Sildenafil-treated group C. No difference was found between the ICI-treated group & the Sildenafil-treated group upon comparing the IIEF-5 and the sexual satisfaction scores.
