The aim of this study was to analyze the epidemiological, clinical, laboratory and histopathological features in Egyptian children with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome and to document their response to different therapies and current outcome. One hundred files of nephrotic syndrome patients were randomly selected and retrospectively reviewed; they included 74 males and 26 females with male: female ratio of 2.8:1, the age of patients ranged from3.5:21 years with a mean of 9.8±3.9 years, age of onset between 1:12 years with a mean of 4.4±2.8 years, duration of disease from 1.5:12 years with a mean of 5.5±2.5 years. The initial response after steroid therapy was SRNS in 34 cases and SSNS in 66 cases. Biopsies were done in 40 patients. Nine patients developed chronic renal insufficiency.
