Abstract

The classic mechanism of injury for femoral head fracture is traumatic posterior hip dislocation; femoral head fracture may also occur following anterior hip dislocation, recent attention has been paid to sport injuries as a cause to femoral head fractures, fatigue fracture and low energy trauma being less obvious as mechanism of injury than high energy trauma, micro fractures in the trabeculae of medullany bone near joints have been a subject of interest in the last few years, Upadhyay et al discussed the role of biological factors predisposing to traumatic posterior hip dislocation, femoral head fracture may be result of shearing impaction or avulsion.
