Background Cardiovascular complications are the most common cause of mortality and morbidity in chronic renal failure patients (CRF). Methods 30 patients with chronic renal failure not under dialysis and 10 healthy subjects were assessed by echocardiography, abdominal ultrasound, Doppler ultrasound and laboratory assay. Results: 7 patients had left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH). 5 patients had diastolic dysfunction, 2 patients had concentric septal hypertrophy and one patient had pericardial effusion. Conclusion The most common cause of death in chronic renal failure patients are cardiovascular complications and early treatment can help to avoid these complication.
